Dragons

Gameplay[edit]

DragonVale is a dragon breeding simulation game in which players design an island park and display dragons in habitats. Displaying dragons allows the player to earn 'dragoncash'. Dragoncash can be used to upgrade a park with new islands, habitats, and decorations.[2] Currently, the game has a max park level of 140, and there is a total dragon count of 619 (204 elemental dragons, 265 special dragons, and 262 epic dragons), decoration count of 479, and an island count of 29.[3]

Basic elemental dragons can produce a specific set of hybrid dragons by being paired in the Breeding Cave, the Epic Breeding Island, the Berrywhite Breeding Cave, which is only available during Valentine's, or the Cooperative Breeding Cave. The ten basic elements are Plant, Fire, Earth, Cold, Lightning, Water, Air, Metal, Light, and Dark.

Epic dragons are rarer than basic elemental dragons and hybrids. Types of Epic dragons include Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Treasure, Olympus, Gemstone, Dream, Seasonal, Apocalypse, Chrysalis, Ornamental, Crystalline, Snowflake, Monolith, Aura, Hidden, Galactic, and Surface.

There are a number of limited or rare dragons, known as 'Special Dragons', that are only available during a specific period of time. These dragons are themed toward specific holidays, seasons, anomalies, months, and events. For example, the Ghost dragon is available for Halloween and the Reindeer dragon is available for the winter holidays. Many Epic dragons are also limited; for example, the Leap Year Dragon that is theoretically only available every 4 years. Limited dragons are often released alongside a limited park decoration. Limited dragons include the gemstone dragons, which correspond to the monthly birthstones. Gemstone dragons earn gems rather than Dragoncash. Backflip Studios has held several 'bring them back' events to give players a chance to breed a limited dragon they may have missed the first time around.

Gems are a vital part of DragonVale. Without them certain goals take longer to achieve. Gems can be acquired through trading them with friends, winning them in the colosseum and race track, purchasing them directly, or from gemstone and crystalline dragons.

The Rift is another dimension in the game. In the Rift, Gems and Dragoncash are useless and the player must collect Etherium. The best way to collect Etherium is having dragons in the rift. The rift has a maximum of 55 habitats, which can be decorated using Rift habitat themes. Many dragons can go into the rift, but the rift has 34 special dragons.

Though breeding is the most common way to earn non-basic dragons, they can also be bought from the market for a high amount of gems unless they are the basic elemental dragons, for which you can use Dragoncash. Players can buy new islands to make space for more habitats although there is a limit on habitats.

Players raise dragons to adulthood by feeding them treats grown from treat farms, won from the race track, or earned from the completion of quests. The higher level a dragon is, the more Dragoncash it will earn per minute. Different dragons earn Dragoncash at different rates. For example, a Gift dragon at level 10 can only earn 77 Dragoncash per minute while a level 10 Moon Dragon can earn 256 Dragoncash per minute. Rainbow Dragons can earn 400 Dragoncash per minute at level 10.

There have also been several events held in relation to time of year or holidays that require the player to do a number of activities like collecting Dragoncash/Gems, hatching or selling dragons after incubation, and other special provisions. These activities give the player a certain limited time currency that corresponds to the event and enables the player to buy exclusive or unique items.

Critical reception[edit]

The game has a score of 84 on Metacritic based on 5 critic reviews.[4] Capturing a screenshot on pc.

The game also has an average score of 7.1 out of 10 based upon the community's reviews on Metacritic currently.[4]

Congratulations you made it to the third part of this breeding guide. That means you must be trying to breed some really rare dragons in DragonVale or the newest ones anyways. Please do keep in mind for the Sun Dragon and Moon Dragon that it is recommended by me (some may disagree) that you set your device to a 12 hour clock and breed from 7:01AM -> 6:59PM for a Sun Dragon, while for a Moon Dragon you should get one if you breed from 7:01PM -> 6:59AM. No other guide has said this but from data and statistics I have come up with these results with another member. If it does not work for you then you can simply follow the breeding dragons until you get them.

This is the best and only DragonVale Breeding guide you need.

This is not a copy and paste guide. Permission was granted to use the ‘bare bone' of Lion's (www.gameteep.com/lion) guide. Special thanks to ED1075 for the egg pictures and organizing the layout.

Basic Information:

The following dragon combinations are the best and most effective way of getting these dragons. While there are other ways to get them, these methods should yield faster results based on the number of hours it takes the other potential dragons you can get by using same combinations.

Definitions:

Efficiency – the best possible way to breed. It does not mean it will work for you yet is a calculation of hours or dragon elements. Please do not confuse yourself with god (The Dragonvale Company)

Breeding – combining two dragons with same or different elements to create a new dragon

Tips:

  • Even if you have the correct combination of dragon elements your outcome is still ultimately random. This guide was made for the purpose of helping you understand what is the best possible way to get each dragon through breeding – and which combinations are possible.
  • When you breed two dragons the one you put on the left or right side does not matter. The outcome will be random based on the elements of the two dragons you choose to breed. Please do not waste your time on this, your odds will not improve.
  • The number of friends, dragons, decorations, buildings, or habitats you have will not effect your outcome. Do not listen to random claims that say otherwise because they are false and a waste of time.
  • The level of the dragons does not matter.
  • The Rainbow dragon is created by combining 2 dragons each with 2 different elements. There should be 4 different elements between your two dragons if you want a chance to breed a rainbow.
Time sensitive information:
  • These were all tested in the EST Time zone, but I am 100% certain that the time zone or time of day makes no difference to which dragon you will get. The two possible exceptions to this are the moon and sun dragons.
  • The Sun dragon seems to successfully breed more often during the daytime EST and the Moon dragon seems to successfully breed more often during the nighttime EST. The times may be dependent on just the EST timezone, or it could be dependent your own timezone set on your device. We are still trying to figure out specifics on the times of these two dragons.
*Note: Confirmed notes for Sun Dragon and Moon Dragon. Please set your device to a 12 hour clock if you are having trouble with rbeeding Moon Dragon or Sun Dragon.
*Note: Remember your odds of getting a dragon are random, the order doesn't matter. If you don't get one you want the first time, just try again. It may take a few tries, but eventually you should get the dragon you want.
